Pointing and period properties

Restoration works should only be carried out using traditional materials and methods hereditary to the period of your property.

All restoration work must be carried out using traditional materials and techniques preserving the very fabric that has been admired by many.

If your property was built in sand and lime then it should always be re-pointed using sand and lime. If your property is Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian or pre war, then by tradition it was built using these materials and it was intended as a sacrificial coating protecting the bricks.

Lime has been used as a building material for centuries and is a key in helping to protect brick and stone buildings from weather and time. In addition to its aesthetics, lime provides a more sympathetic and durable alternative to cement, allowing buildings to breathe and better accommodate movement over time.
